Index CFDs

Index CFDs are contracts that mirror the performance of the underlying index future with the profit or loss calculated as the difference between the purchase price and the selling price.

Alpari (UK)’s range of index CFDs includes Wall Street 30, US 500, US Tech 100, UK 100, German 30, Stoxx 50 and French 40.

  • Buy if you think the market will rise; sell if you think the market will fall.
  • Open position with a margin from USD400 per 1 lot – as CFDs are leveraged products, there is no need to pay the full value of the position.
  • There is no financing charge if your position remains open at the end of the trading session.
  • There are no commission charges on index CFDs.
  • Index CFDs have a market expiry date. Alpari will close client positions at the official settlement price, two days before the official expiry.

Official expiry

  • All index CFD’s officially expire on the third Friday of the delivery month. If the third Friday is not a business day, then the contract will expire on the preceding business day.

If your positions remain open two days before the official expiry date, Alpari (UK) will close them at the official settlement price.

Pending orders

Pending orders (buy stop, sell stop, buy limit and sell limit) will be automatically deleted when the market closes at the end of each trading session. Please note, however that stop loss and take profit orders will remain in the market.

Trading hours

Market trading hours are an important factor when trading CFDs. If you have an open position when the markets close, this means you will not be able to close your trade until the market re-opens again the next trading day. Due to the volatility of equity markets, the opening price at the start of the next trading session can be vastly different from the closing price the previous trading session.
